FranFlow allows you to send and receive text messages (SMS) and phone calls directly from the platform.
To use these features, you must:
Purchase a phone number
Complete A2P (SMS) verification
This article walks you through both steps.
What Is A2P Verification (And Why It Matters)
A2P (Application-to-Person) verification is required to send text messages in the U.S.
It is a carrier requirement designed to:
reduce spam
protect consumers
improve message delivery rates
Without A2P verification:
SMS messages may fail
messages may be blocked
automation workflows using SMS will not work properly
Step 1: Purchase a Phone Number
Navigate to Phone Systems
Log into FranFlow
Click Settings
Select Phone Systems
Click Add Number or Purchase Number
Search for a Number
You can search by:
Area code
City
State
πͺ Best practices: Choosing the right number!
β Choose a familiar or local area code
β Avoid overthinking the number β availability changes frequently
β Prioritize functionality over vanity
Purchase the Number
Select your desired number
Click Purchase
Your number is now added to your account.
Step 2: Configure Your Phone Number
After purchasing:
Assign the number to your user
Enable:
SMS messaging
Voice (calls)
Your number is now ready for configuration.
Step 3: Start A2P Verification
To send text messages, you must complete A2P registration.
What Youβll Need
Be prepared to provide:
Business name
Business website
Business address
Contact email
EIN (if applicable)
Type of messages you plan to send
Messaging Use Case (Important)
You will be asked how you plan to use SMS.
For FranFlow, this typically includes:
responding to new leads
appointment confirmations
follow-up communication
scheduling reminders
Keep your description clear and simple.
π Example: "We send follow-up messages, appointment confirmations, and scheduling reminders to individuals who have inquired about franchise opportunities."
Step 4: Submit for Approval
Once submitted:
Your application is reviewed by carriers
Approval typically takes 1β5 business days (can vary)
Step 5: Wait for Approval
During this time:
You may have limited SMS functionality
Some messages may fail or not deliver
This is normal until verification is complete.
Step 6: Confirm A2P Approval
Once approved:
β SMS messages will send reliably
β workflows using SMS will activate fully
β delivery rates improve significantly
SMS Compliance: Opt-In Requirements
Before sending texts, contacts must give permission (opt-in).
Examples of valid opt-in:
Submitting a form with SMS consent
Booking a call and agreeing to communication
Directly requesting follow-up
βΌοΈ Important: Do NOT send texts to contacts who have not opted in.
This can result in:
message blocking
compliance violations
number suspension
Step 7: Test Your Setup
Before using your number with real leads:
β Send yourself a text message
β Make a test call
β Confirm voicemail works
β Verify messages are delivered
Porting an Existing Phone Number (Optional)
You can bring an existing number into FranFlow, but this is less common.
When Porting Makes Sense
β Your number supports both calls and SMS
β You want to keep an established number
When NOT to Port
Many numbers:
are SMS-only
cannot receive calls
have limited functionality
In these cases, it is better to:
β purchase a new number
β notify contacts of the new number
