Help! I Can’t Find My Contact Fields

Updated today

If you feel like your contact fields disappeared — don’t panic. In most cases, your fields are still there. A filter or view setting is hiding them.

This guide will help you quickly identify and fix the issue.

Quick Troubleshooting Checklist

Before submitting a support request, confirm:

✔ Filters are cleared
✔ You are in All Contacts
✔ You are checking the correct field category
✔ The field is not archived
✔ The column is visible
✔ You are searching with the correct format

Step 1: Check for Active Filters (Most Common Cause)

FranFlow remembers your last applied filters. If you searched for a specific field value or applied a filter, that filter remains active until you remove it.

This is the #1 reason contacts or fields appear “missing.”

How to Clear Filters

  • Go to Contacts

  • Click Filters

  • Review any active conditions

  • Remove all filter rules

  • Click Apply

Or

  • Click Clear All (if available)

Once filters are cleared, your full contact list and fields should reappear.

Important: Closing the page does NOT remove filters. You must manually clear them.

Step 2: Check Your Smart List

If you’re inside a Smart List, you’re viewing a filtered subset of contacts. You may not see all contacts or expected data.

To troubleshoot:

  • Click Contacts

  • Select All Contacts

  • Confirm filters are cleared

  • Search again

If your contact appears in All Contacts but not in your Smart List, the Smart List criteria is filtering it out.

Step 3: Confirm You’re Looking at Contact Fields (Not Opportunity Fields)

Contact fields and Opportunity fields are separate. If you’re inside:

  • Pipeline view → you’re looking at Opportunities

  • Contact record → you’re looking at Contact-level fields

If you created a custom field under Opportunities, it will not appear under Contact fields. To verify where a field lives:

  • Go to Settings

  • Click Custom Fields

  • Select either:

    • Contacts

    • Opportunities

Make sure you’re checking the correct section.

Step 4: Confirm the Field Was Created in the Correct Location

If you recently created a custom field and can’t find it:

  • Go to Settings

  • Click Custom Fields

  • Confirm it exists under Contacts

  • Confirm it is not archived

  • Confirm the field name matches what you’re searching

If the field exists but isn’t visible in a form, it may not have been added to that form.

Step 5: Check Column Visibility in List View

If you are expecting to see a field in the Contacts table view:

  • Click the column selector (if available)

  • Ensure the field is toggled on

  • Adjust your visible columns

Step 6: Confirm Field Type & Search Logic

FranFlow search behavior depends on field type. For example:

  • Dropdown fields require exact value matches

  • Number fields require proper formatting

  • Text fields are case-insensitive but must match content

If you searched “200k” but the field says “$200,000+” — it may not return. Try searching by:

  • Contact name

  • Email

  • Partial value

  • Clearing filters first

Why This Happens

FranFlow is designed to remember your view state:

  • Active filters remain applied

  • Smart Lists maintain saved criteria

  • Custom fields live in separate categories

  • Contact and Opportunity data are separated intentionally

Nothing is deleted unless manually removed.

Still Can’t Find It?

If you’ve completed the checklist and still cannot locate your field:

  • Take a screenshot of:

    • Your Filters panel

    • The Custom Fields settings page

  • Note the field name exactly as created

  • Contact the FranFlow team for review

Most issues are resolved in under 5 minutes once filters are cleared.

💡 Pro Tip: If contacts ever appear “missing,” clear filters first. 9 times out of 10, that solves the issue immediately.
