Keeping Contact fields accurate is critical. Fields power automation, segmentation, reporting, and FranTracker™ synchronization.
This guide explains exactly how to update fields — and when to be cautious.
Understanding FranFlow + FranTracker™ Integration First
FranFlow and FranTracker™ are connected.
Many Contact fields inside FranFlow sync directly with FranTracker™, including financial data, lifecycle stages, and qualification details. Because of this integration, where you update a field matters.
High-Level Rule:
Marketing, communication, and engagement data → Update in FranFlow
Official placement and territory checks→ Often update in FranTracker™
Let's get to updating!
Quick Alignment Checklist Before Updating
✔ Is this a marketing or placement field?
✔ Should this change originate in FranTracker™?
✔ Will this trigger automation?
✔ Am I editing Contact or Opportunity fields?
✔ Are filters cleared before bulk updating?
Clean updates maintain clean automation.
Method 1: Update Inside the Contact Record (Recommended)
Navigate to Contacts
Click All Contacts
Search for the Contact
Open their record
Locate the field you want to update
You can do this by searching the field name in the input box to the left of the contact history or by scrolling through the fields on the left hand side.
Modify the value
Click Save
🪄 Best Practice: If you searched the field, make sure to clear the search! If you don't the search will persist on every contact.
Method 2: Bulk Update Contact Fields
Use caution with bulk updates.
Go to Contacts
Apply correct filters
Check out Filtering and Smart Lists to learn more on how to do this.
Select contacts
Click Bulk Actions
Choose Update Field
Enter new value
Confirm
Always double-check filters before bulk updating.
Fields You Should Not Manually Edit
Avoid editing anything under Additional Info. This includes:
FranTracker Date Created
FranTracker Date Last Updated
System sync fields
Integration-only metadata
These support backend synchronization.
How Field Updates Impact Automation
Changing a field may:
Trigger workflows
Move Opportunities
Apply or remove tags
Send emails or SMS
Notify users
Before updating high-impact fields (like investment range or stage), confirm whether automation is attached.
